|||1.And make sure that SQL service account have permission to access the
Outlook profile's user account.
Try to use the Outlook user login to your SQL server, then create the
Outlook profile.
Then check again that SQL agentmail profile can setup or not.
2.Verify the MAPI32.dll version, you can see this to check your version.

Can't send out mail if Outlook not open ?

Dear experts,
In my server, I have created a scheduled task that use SENDMAIL to send some
reports to my boss email ... but I find that if the mail cannot send out if
the OUTLOOK in the server was closed ... everytime I need to open the OUTLOOK
and press SEND/RECEIVE to send those mail out. (It will be a big trouble if
we have a few days holiday) ...
So can anyone know why the SENDMAIL function cannot operate when the OUTLOOK
is closed ? if so, can someone tell me how to solve this problem (except
ALWAYS OPEN THE OUTLOOK), thanks very much for all of your concern & helping
!!!
Some versions of Outlook require keeping Outlook open for
SQL Mail to work correctly. You may also want to refer to
the following articles:
INF: How to Configure SQL Mail
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=263556
INF: Common SQL Mail Problems
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=315886
One way around this is to not use Outlook, MAPI for mail and
just use smtp. You can download an extended stored procedure
to send mail using SMTP. You can find the download and more
information at:

Can't send operator email in SQL Sever 2005

I have set up Database Mail
I have sent a test message successfully
I have set up a Operator
When I create a test job to send a test message to the operator the
TSQL is
EXECUTE msdb.dbo.sp_notify_operator @.name=N'Chris Auer',@.body=N'wewqe'
When I run that query I get
Msg 14636, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_send_dbmail, Line 94
No global profile is configured. Specify a profile name in the
@.profile_name parameter.
In the job log I have this
Executing the query "EXECUTE msdb.dbo.sp_notify_operator @.name=N'Chris
Auer',@.body=N'wewqe'
" failed with the following error: "No global profile is configured.
Specify a profile name in the @.profile_name parameter.". Possible
failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set
correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established
correctly.
What is a global profile?
I have already made the registry change to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.1\SQLServerAgent
I made DatabaseMailProfile my default profile name in Database Mail and
I made UseDatabaseMail = 1
Any ideas, thanks. This is driving me up a wall.'
Chris AuerLooks like you only need to specify a profile name or define a default
profile.
Right-click Database Mail, select Configure Database Mail and select Manage
profile security. Here you have the choice to configure your profiles as
public, private and/or default.
If you do not have a default profile configured you will need to specify the
@.profile_name parameter. This is the same name under 'Profile name' on the
Database Mail Configuration Wizard.
Also, take a look at 'Database Mail [SQL Server], security on BOL.

created a default, private profile for the agent to use, however it still
fails.
I get the same error message. I can send database mail, but the agent fails.
I've tried public default profiles and they fail too. The agent account is
setup in msdb in the DatabaseMailUser role.
The interseting thing is that the 'Test' button is dimmed on the SQL Agent,
Alert System, Mail Session page even though the correct profile is selected!
Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Can't Send mail using MultiServer Admin

Hi,

I have a Master server which I want to use to handle jobs for our Production Servers. the master server has Outlook installed but the Target servers do not. I need to find a way to get the job to send a mail confirming whether the job has succeeded or failed but without having a mail client installed on any of the target servers. Currently the actual backups do run but the send mail section fails with the following error.

xp_sendmail: Procedure expects parameter @.user, which was not supplied. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 17985). The step failed.

I can't see any parameter @.User on BOL, it may be that using sendmail is not the best way foward here

Any ideas anyone?

Hi, I had this problem when I migrated my server to new hardware. I had not yet set up the Outlook account which SQL Server uses to send the mail on the new hardware. You have to login to your box with the same account that you use for the SQL Server startup service and create an outlook profile on that account before you can send the mail using xp_sendmail. Hope this helps!|||

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the response, we don't want to install an Outlook client on the target servers which was cauing the problem, I managed to resolve the issue by using smtp instead

how do you set up the smtp on your target server? I'd like to do the same but have not any idea, I am a newbie in both SQL and network. Thanks.

Can't send Attachement (Report Delivering)

Good morning
Iâ'm trying to enable the scheduled report delivering. It is working fine
without attachment (except the mail is in the SMTP-queue, but this is another
issueâ?¦ï' ). But Iâ'm not able to send a mail including a rendered report.
Here is my environment:
- Windows 2003 Advanced Server
- Reporting Services Service Pack 1
- SQL Server Service Pack 3a
- NT 4 Domain (very old, I knowâ?¦)
- SQL Reporting Service running using a Domain Account (having local
Admin on Server)
- SQL Service & Agent running the same Domain Account
- Reporting Server is configured to relay the Mails to an other SMTP
Host within our network
Any ideas?
Thanks in advanceâ?¦
