Can't start SSIS

Hello,

Our enterprise have bought a sql server 2005 standard edition.
Before installing it i have installed the beta version.
And after I desinstalled this beta version (with difficulties).
But the problem is that I can't start SSIS.

I have the following message:
"The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion.
Consult event log or other applicable error logs for details."

Please can you help me.

You should really format the machine and reinstall the OS, especially if you had an early beta. The fact that you had problems cleaning it up would be a clear indication to me that you should do that more than ever.

Are there any errors in the event log, as the message directs?

Have you applied SP1? There is an issue with starting the service with that.

In fact I haven't installed the SP1 because the SP1 I have seen is only for express edition (I have the standard edition)!!
For the event log I haven't seen it yet!! I'll try to do it Monday.

PS:
One thing I remembered during the installation is that all the system requirements were not OK.I didn't have errors but there were 2 warnings(i don't remember them)!! .

May be it will be that!!Or it will be because I haven't installed SP1 (if you know where I can download it please indicate me ).

The SP1 can be downloaded http://www.microsoft.com/sql/sp1.mspx, but I don't think it will fix this particular issue.

I join Darren's advice to reinstall the OS if earlier it had any beta builds.

Can't see Designer view in Asp.net 2005

Hi All,

I am using VS2005 Trial version, In my website project i can't able to see Designer View of all .aspx files but i can able to view code part. Earlier days i can able to see Designer page but now i can't do why? This problem occurs even new website project also.

Can any one help me?

Can't run under the Eval version of Sql2000

I install the evaluation version of SQL Server 2000.
When I install the evaluation version of Reporting Service, the Installer
require me a SqlServer with Server pack 3a
But the Server pack 3a can't install with evaluation version of SQL Server
2000
How can I do?I guess theres nothing much you can do in this case :(

cant load report( error20525)

Hai i am working in vb programs.i used crystal report 8 for repots.
today i upgrade crystal report to version 10,now when i am tking my report through program iam geting the error like "can not load report errorno:20525"

Cant install SQL Server 2005 on vista..

I'm loading the dev version of sql 2005 on vista ultmate. I'm not seeing the manager tools. I've installed sp2. In the services it says sql express but not sql server. I read the requirments for the dev version and it didn't list vista. Any ideas?

Two issues.

First, you may have SQL Express installed. SQL Express is NOT installed by SQL Developer Edition. You may wish to remove the SQL Express instance.

Second, the client tools are not automatically installed when you install SQL Server. You will need to insert the installation media, and select [Client Tools] to install SSMS.

I'll take a look. However when I had xp pro setup SQL and SQL Express were both runnning. And I did the client tools and I'll revisit that. I want to make sure there are no issues between Vista Ultmate and SQL 2005. I think I've seen a few problems out there, but none like this particular issue.

I am unable to download the following modules/components with my installation on Vista. As for not seeing the management console, I am using the trial download, so I cannot access any of the management tools on the media you are referring to, as well. Once I finish the installation, I do not see any reference to the SQL Server application in the Program directory, however, a directory has been created for it. I suppose this is because most of the key components are failing to install. In addition, IIS is installed, enabled, and running on my system, but I continually receive the error message during the first stage of installation indicating that IIS has not been detected and needs to be installed and enabled. I have tried stopping the service during installation, and it has not made a difference. I would greatly appreciate any good advice. Thanks.

Cant install SQL Server 05 EE, VB 2005, or Visual Web Dev 2005

hi! i just joined this group today after a colleague told me about it.
anyway, i'm new to SQL and haven't tried installing any version of it.
I do have vb 6.0 though on my pc. My problem is that I can't install
SQL server 05 EE, VB 2005 or VW 2005. I have downloaded all of the
installer from the Microsoft site as well as the dotnetfix which is
supposed to install the .net framework 2.0.

whenever i try to install SQL server EE, it is telling me that it has
found beta components. but i don't have any beta versions of SQL. I
tried uninstalling my Vb 6.0 thinking its causing the error, but same
thing happened.

The next thing I did is I uninstall my .net 2.0 and when i try to
install VB or VW 2005, i got to the step where it is trying to download
the .net framework 2.0 but it is taking so long. Question: is the
dotnetfix.exe which installed .net 2.0, different from the .net 2.0
that the setup.exe of VB2005 will download? if yes, may i know if there
is a direct site where i can manually download and install it so the
VB2005 will just skip that part and go on with the installation?

When i downloaded the exe files for SQL, .net 2.0, VB and VW, i did
select the SAVE option and saved them on my external mini hard drive so
I can install it at home. Does that make any difference? could that
cause the error?

pretty clear that i am a newbie with this stuff and i never thought
that it would be this hassle to install them heheheh any help, in a
detailed way if possible, would highly be appreciated.

Did you ever install a beta of Visual Studio 2005? Apparently you did
install the beta of something since you get the message. And that would be
a beta of SQL 2005, .Net Fx or VS 2005.

Hm, if the install is that fresh, then it the easiest way would be
to start over again, and then start with installing .Net Fx followed
by SQL Server, and then Visual Basic and Visual Web Developer. (But
avoid the other junk you usually cram in. :-)

Cant install MSDE

I have tried to install MSDE 2000, first the normal version, then the
one for developers using Visual Studio .NET. Each time the installation
appears to complete, but there is no shortcut to start the program and
it's not in the Start/Programs menu. However, if I look for it in "Add
and Remove Programs" it's there.
The directory

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn

includes some exe files and I have tried to start them, but nothing
appears to happen. If I start sqlsrvr.exe I get a command prompt window
in which I see things like "Server Process ID is 182", "Logging SQL
server messages in file..." etc, but I have no idea how to go on from
there.
I tried installing the new 2005 Beta version but exactly the same
problem.
Why is this happening? How can I make it work?

Bruno PanettaPS the installation probably doesn't even complete. The installation
window just disappears at some point, without saying that it completed
successfully.

SQL 2005 Express (the product that replaces MSDE) does have a UI called
Express Manager but it's a separate download to the database engine product.

Can't install Express June CTP?!

Hey all, I'm trying to install SQL Server 2005 Express June CTP on a windows 2003 Web Edition Server (With SP1).

I've had an old version of the .NET 2.0 Framework installed, so I downloaded the one mentioned next to the SQL Express download (this one: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=48448).

Each and every time I run the setup I encounter this error:
The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information, see the SQL Server Books Online topics, "How to: View SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" and "Starting SQL Server Manually."
There is not even any sort of SQL Server service in the list of services, what should I do?

Hendrik BehrensI've also tried the same on Windows XP Professional SP2. I had to uninstall a previous version of .NET 2.0 and VWD Express/VB Express Beta 2 are installed.

I get the same error message?! - The service is not there and the setup just fails with that message.

I've had SQL Express April CTP installed on a windows 2003 Enterprise *trial*, which worked, the update to Junce CTP... right, fails with the same message.
Any proposals?|||Did you look for the log files?

-Euan|||Yes I did, and I found the problem: My windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 Web Edition are both german - the setup fails on non-english langauge versions with default settings, this german article describes the problem and how to solve it (for everyone else who encounters this):

(basically, remove the tick "Hide advanced configuration Options" and select "Local System" as the service account, instead of "Network Service", which is the default.)

Can't get SP3a installed

I'm trying to get SP3a installed on my computer, and it simply will not
update. Here's what SELECT @.@.VERSION returns:
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.194 (Intel X86) Aug 6 2000 00:57:48
Copyright (c) 1988-2000 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on Windows
NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)
According to the MS web site, this is the original installation version. I
downloaded all 3 of the files at the end of the "Microsoft SQL Server 2000
Service Pack 3a" page, and followed the instructions and installed
sql2ksp3.exe first, then installed sql2kasp3.exe. I stopped the services,
and restarted the services, and SELECT @.@.VERSION still returns the same
exact thing as what is listed above. What did I do wrong here?

setup.bat to install the SP?
Did the setup.bat run with errors?

run.
