Can't see data anymore!

I have had an issue when I try to return all rows or do a query on my data
tables. I get the error 8007007F unknown error
I have tried to instal the newest service releases sp3, and have had no
luck. I have upgraded my server to MS Server 2003.
If you have any ideas, I desparately need them!
Thanks
DerekTry re-install MDAC2.8.

I can think of other then reinstalling the SQL server.
Quite frustrating!

Can't Run any DM Until Delete Lost Cube?

I (unsuccessfully) made a cube named, MSR TRANCHES. I can't find any trace of it anymore. However, I can't make a new Mining Structure because VS complains of:

Error 1 File system error: Error opening file; \\?\C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\OLAP\Data\Analysis Services Project1.0.db\MSR TRANCHES ~MC.1.cub.xml is not a disk file or file is not accessible. Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when loading the MSR TRANCHES ~MC cube, from the file, '\\?\C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\OLAP\Data\Analysis Services Project1.0.db\MSR TRANCHES ~MC.1.cub.xml'. 0 0

I can't find any cube anywhere, nor do I find this missing file. How does Visual Studio know to look and how do I clear this up.

Thank you very much,

I obtain the same error when I try to develop a mining structure. Anybody know the solution?

Thanks in advance.

|||The error you're seeing indicates that the database is corrupt (internal files associated with certain system objects are missing). If you don't have any other database/objects you need to save on the server, the workaround would be to shut down the AS2005 service (SQL Server Analysis Service (<instancename>)), delete the "\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.x\OLAP\Data" folder and restart the service.

cant login to SQL Server anymore

Hi guys-
I can't seem to be able to login into SQL Server anymore ever since I c hanged my password for my Win 2k login. the authentication mode (i checked in the properties section ) is set to SQL Server authentication, but i know originally i set it up as Win 2k authentication, and then changed that to SQL Server authentication...the local server (its set up on my machine) will not start up any more, and I am clueless as to how to fix it. I've tried to login using my other ids ( that i've created) but i don't think those id's had sa rights, so it won't let me.

Please help!Hi Indigo4267,
Try the checking the following:
1). Using the 'Client Network Utility' in the MS Menu, click on the
'Alias' tab.

2). If you don't see your DB server in this list, add it as a Named Pipes
alias.

You should be able to logon direct now, since the DB is on your
local workstation.

3). Check to see what domain/user privileges you have as a user in
the domain that is running the MSSqlServer process. You may not
be able to 'see' the domain running the server.

Good luck!|||thanks for the advice. i'm really new to this db admin stuff (and sql server in general) so i only understood part 1 of what you wrote, and i followed your steps, but it still doesn't work...<sigh>

i guess the real underlying problem is "is there a way to change your win 2k password (if you are the db admin) and still be able to login into sql server (if its set up on your machine) regardless of what authentication mode is set up?" even when i switched to win authentication from sql authentication/mixed mode authentication it still failed!

:( i always get weird problems like this in everything i touch :(|||I actually managed to solve this problem...i think my SQL Server was set to mixed mode which is why i was having problems with my new win2k password--

here's how i did it (for others who are facing teh same problem)
in win2k-
-go to the control panel
-click on administrative tools
-click on services
-right click on MSSQLServer and choose properties
-click on logon tab
-enter and confirm new password
-restart SQL Server

its actually in the help section (for SQL Server 2k) under the heading "Changing Passwords and User Accounts" and there also is info there for win 4.0 NT.

Cant' log in anymore

Hi,
I pulled down all the files from my live
database which is running remotely.
When I did this, I overwrote my Web Page
connection string, which I used to log into a
local production instance of this database.
After a few weeks I got around to recreating
my connection string, but it won't work.
Neither does my partner's login info work and
we are both admins. I am the dbo. Now I am
wondering if coincidentally somehow my machine
was compromised. Is there someway I could be
kept out? I can still log onto the machine/server
which runs SQL Server for access to the drives.
I am running Windows/2000
and SQL 2000. My authentication
is set to Windows only. I run my network
as a workgroup and there is no "Active Directory".
Logging into the server to access the drives is
no problem. The login is of course the same, since
I am using Windows only authentication.
Is there anyplace I can look to see if there
is some way to get this working again?
It is not making sense to me that I can
log in to the HDs on the LAN but cannot
log into SQL databases via a webpage.
The folders are in folder needed a Windows
login, but the SQL server logs just keep showing
that access is denied because the login is not
a trusted login, which is not true, but I cannot
prove that to the server.
Could I have been compromised or does
this sound like some other confusion?
Thanks for anyone's feedback,
FoxIf the authentication is set to Windows Authentication and you're not in a
domain, then you're basically using Workgroup security to connect. The
same username and password must exists on both machines.
Thanks,
Kevin McDonnell
