Can Someone Help......?

Hi vishals_patel,

What edition of SQL Server Reporting Services SP2 you try to install on Vista Home Premium?

It seems that for Vista Home Premium 32 bits only these editions are supported: Developer, Express Advanced, and Evaluation.

For more information, you can go here:

Hi Mihaela,

I am using Vista home premium with evaluation version of SQL 2005 Enterprise. Everything is working okay except Reporting service. Is only reporting service not supported on Home premium.

Hi Vishal,

You said you cannot install Reporting Services Evaluation edition on your Vista Home Premium machine, even if Evaluation is a supported edition for this OS.

I would like to have more information about your installation process:

- did you install first RTM and after this SP2? If not, how did you install? Did the installation done before SP2 (RTM or SP1) succeed?

- you should find some error messages in the setup log files located here:

%Program Files%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Hotfix

The name of the SP2 RS setup log file should look something like this: RS9_Hotfix_KB921896_sqlrun_rs.msp_X.log. Could you, please, take a look there and let me know what errors you find?

Thank you,

Mihaela

Hi,

Cant find file name like this.

Let me tell you how i have done installation. First i have installed Sql evaluation version from CD i got with my book. I got message that "This version have compatibility issue with this version of windows". Then i went to microsoft.com to find solution. I found that install sql server and then install SP2 to resolve this error.

So, ultimately i have first installed SQL 2005 (Cant get option for RS). Then it automatically updated to SP1 by Vista and to SP2 later on. Then i thought that RS will work on my system. But it didnt, So i tried to repair sql and tried to check RS at installation screen but cant do that again.

Hope this would help you to find solution for me.

Thanks for your response.

Hi Vishals,

According with this:

http://www.iis.net/default.aspx?tabid=2&subtabid=25&i=1100

IIS7 on Vista Home Premium does not support Windows Authentication. This explains why your pre-requisites check for RS fail and you cannot install RS on your Vista Home Premium.

It seems that there is a mismatch between this document and the document I previously pointed to, so I would suggest you to go at:

http://connect.microsoft.com/

and to open a bug. We will investigate your issue and we will provide you direct feedback.

I also found another thread about a similar issue:

Thank you,

Mihaela
